The faint scent of narcissus blossoms,
Entices her instincts
Smelling, sensing, feeling.
Blooming flowers and bountiful foliage attract the
soul,
Then
a noise in the distance
Looming ever closer,
Galloping, panting, longing.
The hand of darkness drags the evanescent beauty away.
Piercing screams fill the air.
Glancing, searching, longing for that which is lost,
Anger and fear ensnare the senses and blind reason.
Sorrow.
This act will not remain unpunished.
Depression, wrath, vengeance,
Realization that results in the seed of a simple plant,
Blossoming before the eyes.
Joy, exuberance, and life bloom out of barren
death.
Reunification and love,
Treasured memories and happiness continue to flood—
It all eventually
Slips
Away.
Remorse,
Regret,
Sadness,
And sorrow.
Longing,

Longing for her, my Persephone.

Author's Comments

I wrote this poetry as a summer assignment involved with the book "How to Read Literature Like A Professor" by Thomas C. Foster. It's up to you to discover what it alludes to and what the title means if you'd like >;D. Of course to understand the title, you have to understand the poem's allusion. And no... the title does not mean grenade... at least in this sense. xD
